Billy Lane's Choppers Inc. Shop

This was a great opportunity to take a few pictures of Billy Lane's workshop in Daytona Beach after his move from Melbourne, Florida. As I enter the shop and am greeted by Billy, my eyes fall on a Crocker on a workbench. I look around at a '10 Harley-Davidson (that's 1910!) with belt drive and further into the shop is another Crocker. What can I say except I'm impressed to say the least. Billy has entered in the 2016 Cannonball for vehicles 1917 and prior with one of his rides, a 1909 Reading-Standard twin. Billy, besides building exceptional custom rides, is into some long-gone marques than are not very well known.

While mentioning the antique rides in the shop, it might be the time to talk about the 75th Daytona Bike Week coming up in March 2016 and Billy's plans to introduce speedway racing the way it was done a century ago under the name Sons of Speed. They’ll be using bikes that are around the century mark in age to race around New Smyrna Speedway and will be a major feature of the 75th celebration.

It seems like Billy, along with me and many others, is fed up with the crap that makes up the modern bike events. The typical ambulance-chasing lawyers, T-shirt peddlers, and the rest of the camp followers are just a boring distraction from the celebration of the motorcycle. So Billy is using his notoriety to give Daytona Bike Week a much needed kick in the ass.

During Biketoberfest, he put a small exhibit in Arlin Fatland's 2 Wheeler M/C Shop on Main Street as Arlin was busy in Denver and passed on the fall event. Pushing the 75th Spring Race deal, Bill showed off a few bikes and sold Sons of Speed apparel for the event. Also, he met and posed for photos with his many fans. It's a bitch being a rock star, but he is. Billy’s the only one we’ve got, and extremely talented.

    Good Morning,

My name is Rachel, and I work for a Clive Morris, which is why I am contacting you.

I’m contacting you, in the hope you may be able to help, or point me in the right direction.

Clive and Steve Wood, set out to sculpt the biggest Harley- Davidson, known as the Fatboy. A 6 ton bronze sculpture of a 1990 Harley-Davidson sculpture measuring 15 feet long and 10 feet high celebrating Harley's 100th anniversary in 2003.

Fatboy is currently located ….. USA. Clive, has asked me to look for someone to tell Fatboy’s story, of its creation, via television programme (i.e. Orange county Choppers) etc.

When Clive & Steve brought Fatboy to US, They met Billy, who was filming in Florida, he may remember Fatboy!

We are also looking into selling Fatboy, as he is already in the US, we need to find a US buyer. We are based in the UK.

I have added two links below, you tube videos of Fatboy.

If you have any advice, to help me with this it would much appreciated.

Look forward to hearing from you. 

    Billy,
I met you in Charlotte at yopur first Easy Riders Bike show. I just purchased a 1966 shovelhead in a 66-69 swing arm frame. I want to transplant the dirvetrain in a reproduction wishbone frame and would like to have you do the work. I live in Ormond Beach and want to sit down with you to plan ot the build. Can we set this up before April 2?
