Since Barnett’s Magazine Online is going to feature around 70 bikes in our coverage of the 75th Daytona Bike Week, we decided to split them into four parts to make it easier to scroll through them. There will be different types of customs in each part for your enjoyment.

If you’re reading this, you probably aren’t in Daytona Beach for Bike Week, but not all is lost. Barnett’s Magazine Online’s photo bug, the lovely Jack Cofano, is beating his feet all over Daytona and points beyond digitally capturing the event and bringing back lots of photos of new bikes from all over the country and the world. I’ve followed him around a few times and it’s like running a marathon where you have to stop every ten feet and do a bunch of dance moves while you’re taking the shots. Can’t wait to see what he comes back with as the custom industry seems to be a poppin’.

In 1934 Bill France Sr. moved his family from Washington, DC to Daytona Beach, Florida, and opened a two-bay gas station right on Main Street. Whenever you think of Bill France Sr. you automatically associate him with Daytona, but Bill originally intended to move to Miami. His car broke down in Daytona Beach and he liked the area so he decided to stay there. Funny how things have a way of working out.

You know, you just gotta love a guy who lives, breathes, and eats motorcycles like Frank McLane. The Columbia, South Carolina, resident built this gold bobber himself from a little bit of everything and a little help from his friends after a long time spent around everything motorcycles.

After covering the Boardwalk Bike Show it was off to Bruce Rossmeyer’s Destination Daytona to cover the Baddest Bagger Show. This is one of my favorite “Destinations“ at Bike Week. I was destined to find this incredibly designed motorcycle shopping depot. The Baddest Bagger show is designed to become one of the distinct motorcycle shows in Daytona. I will now desist from further puns.

For many, many years the Ocean Center was ground zero for all Harley-Davidson activities during Bike Week. It was convenient for The Motor Company big wigs as they could fall out of bed at the Hilton and drag themselves across A1A to the Ocean Center. Since the Harley-Davidson Motor Company left their beachside digs at the Ocean Center and moved to tents at Riverside Park on Beach Street, this once-popular show has lost some of its luster along with the huge crowds that are anchored in the Main Street Area.

Just east of Ellijay, Georgia, is East Ellijay, Georgia, a small town of roughly 550 people in the very northern part of the state. Normally there’s not too much going on in the typical small town and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Small town peace and quiet leads to time to think and reflect about what’s good and what’s missing from your life. For Judd York, owner of East Ellijay’s Flat Broke Customs, what was good was having the skills and imagination to build custom bikes and what was missing was a killer board track-style bobber covered in copper. So, since he already had the skills and imagination, Judd simply built one that not only satisfied his apparent mineral deficiency, but put little East Ellijay on the custom motorcycle world map with a first place win in the bobber class at Bike Week’s Rat’s Hole Show.
