If someone asked me, “Where can I go to ride my motorcycle, party all night, see awesome custom bikes, listen to great music and hang out with my fellow motorcycle brothers and sisters?” I wouldn’t hesitate to tell them to go to the Las Vegas BikeFest.

Pretty ladies have always been part of just about every event in the moto industry whether it be Sturgis, SEMA, MotoGP, or even car shows. There are bikini contests, Miss Whatever contests and yes, the wet T-shirt contest. Is this politically correct? I don’t know what is politically correct anymore in this country; I just know everyone seems to enjoy this men and women alike.

Going on the same weekend as the Las Vegas BikeFest is something new. Let me introduce to you the “Rally in the Alley” and what they are calling the “Pushers on the Promenade” put on by Michelle Dell Ramsey, the owner of the Hogs & Heifers Saloon. I’m happy to say that Penny French Osiecki, a former colleague at Barnett’s Magazine, is also on board to help make this a great annual event.

The highpoint of my coverage of the Las Vegas BikeFest has always been the Artistry in Iron bike show. This is an invitation-only show that brings master builders from all over the world to compete against their peers.

The Las Vegas BikeFest took place on September 29-October 2 on Fremont Street East in downtown Las Vegas just a few blocks from the Fremont Street Experience. The rally had numerous events scheduled such as poker runs, non-stop entertainment, and bike shows. There are also venders for your shopping pleasure and you even have a chance to win a $1,000 rally shopping spree.

Here is another addition to the “Jack gets paid to take pictures of pretty girls and you don’t!” series. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it.

The bikes in the Artistry in Iron custom show were not the only iron creations to be seen at the Las Vegas BikeFest. Here are some of the other rides to be seen along Fremont Street.

Every year for the last 12 years I looked forward to photographing the bikes at the Artistry in Iron Custom Bike Show at the Las Vegas BikeFest. Until last year I was always allowed to shoot the bikes for an hour or so before the crowds came in to avoid getting a lot of feet and butts in my photos.

The Artistry in Iron Master Builders’ Championship is an annual event at the Las Vegas Bikefest. Twenty builders are invited each year to compete for the $10,000 first prize and, also this year, a beautiful custom made bracelet. It is an honor to even be invited to this event, let alone be the winner. What makes being the winner just a bit more special than most events is that the judging is solely by the 20 contestants in the competition.
